Dr. Stephen Scionti was educated in New England attending preparatory school at The Taft School in Watertown, RI. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurosciences in 1980 from Brown University, Providence, RI. He received his medical education, graduating in 1984, at the University Of Connecticut School Of Medicine where he participated in the Scholars in Medicine Program. He served as a resident in general surgery for 2 years and as resident in Urology for 4 years in the University of Connecticut School of Medicine residency training program, serving as Chief Resident in Urology in the final year. Dr Scionti has actively pursued continuing medical education attending several advanced courses each year and has obtained additional specialty training in prostate cryotherapy and prostate HIFU therapy.

October 2006 – present: Course Director for USHIFU.

I have been integral in the development of the training course presented to urologists for certification in high intensity focused ultrasound in the therapy of prostate cancer and serve as a course director for the USHIFU training program.

June 2006 – present: Director of HIFUCARE, Hilton Head, SC. Center of Excellence for minimally invasive therapy of prostate cancer using SonaBlate 500 HIFU technology.

Jan 2005 – present: Director of Cryocare, Hilton Head, SC. Center of Excellence for minimally invasive treatment of prostate cancer using CryoCare Cryotherapy technology

Jan 2005 – present: Course Director for Endocare. I have conducted regional and national cryotherapy training workshops for urologists. I have trained over 200 urologists to date in prostate cryotherapy.
