The HIFU procedure takes place in San Javier Hospital Marina, a Certified Specialty Hospital in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This is a private center with experienced staff devoted to providing HIFU while you are there.

On the day of the procedure the patient is picked up from the hotel and transported to the hospital. After the procedure and recovery, the patient is transported back to the hotel to recover more comfortably. In some instances it may be necessary for the patient to take a cab to the hospital. In this case, simply ask the hotel to call you a taxi, the ride to the hotel should take approximately five minutes and cost a couple dollars ($3-5).

Upon arrival at the center, you will enter a small waiting area where you should wait until you are assisted by a HIFU nurse. You will receive more detailed instructions once you have arrived in PuertoVallarta.

During the procedure, spouses/partners or friends who accompany the patient will wait in the waiting area until the procedure is over and the patient is in recovery. We recommend bringing magazines or books to read while waiting. There is a small shop in the hospital where drinks and snacks can be purchased. There are also a few restaurants and larger stores, including a Walmart, nearby that can be accessed with a short walk or cab ride.
